A heartbroken woman who lost three family members to cancer inside a year has helped to raise hundreds of pounds for the specialist team who tried to save their lives.

Amanda Ellis lost grandfather Fred Sargent aged 79 to cancer in 2014, quickly followed by grandmother Shirley, aged in her 80s, and dad Peter Hitchborne, aged in his 60s and a former chief superintendent of South Yorkshire Police, in 2015.

All three were treated at Sheffield's Weston Park Hospital and the 26-year-old decided to organise a fundraising raffle in early March to raise money for the specialist team who treated them.

The make-up artist hosted it to coincide with the launch of her new beauty salon called Pose on Abbeydale Road and they managed to raise £317.

The Sheffield woman said: "It was devastating to lose three family members one after another. It was awful.

"But the treatment they received at the hospital was amazing and I wanted to do something to say thank you to them."
