A MONTH-long fundraising drive has collected almost £5,000 for a charity which pays for state-of-the-art hospital equipment.

Ladies’ evenings, a flash mob and raffles boosted Neurocare, a cause that raises money for the neurosciences department at Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Waterthope Infants and Emmanuel Junior School collected over £611 and pupils from Silverdale secondary entertained supporters with a dance routine at the Neurocare November after party.

Grateful mum Margaret Mitchell, of Gleadless, held a coffee morning as her son was treated for a brain tumour. The Lord Mayor of Sheffield Coun John Campbell was among guests who helped collect an impressive £872.

Businesess also helped out and The Star raised £165 with a dress down day.

A thrilled Emma Douglas, head of fundraising and PR, said: “With Christmas on the way we are aware funds are limited and it is heart-warming to see how generous local people have been.”
