More than £1,000 was raised for The Sick Children’s Trust by 50 people who took part in the fourth annual Treetop House Sponsored Walk.

The route took walkers around Weston Park and organisers said it was ‘a wonderful day out for families’.

All the money raised from the walk will all go towards the charity’s £1.2m Branching Out Appeal to build a new 11 bedroom ‘Home from Home’ at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and the existing ‘Home from Home, Treetop House.

The Sick Children’s Trust has seven ‘Homes from Home’ across the UK which provide free accommodation to families of sick children being treated in hospital.

It already has Treetop House in Sheffield, which supports families of sick children but is building a second home to support more families.

The Branching Out Appeal is in conjunction with a £40m redevelopment at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, which will see a new hospital wing built including en-suite facilities for parents staying with their children
