Volunteers put their back into it

TEAMS of volunteers from the Sheffield offices of insurance company Aviva have been helping prepare for the big move at the St Luke’s Hospice Crookes shop.

The landmark store on Crookes is about to close for a major refurbishment and is relocating into a temporary home at the former Horse and Rider shop next door.

An initial team of nine volunteers, followed by a further six, all helped to clean, shift, sort, sift, organise and move stock from the current shop to the new premises.

Shops manager Chris Quinlan said: “It was an absolute pleasure having the Aviva teams in to help us. They worked so hard.”

The new look shop is to open in May, when the neighbouring temporary site will become the home of the new St Luke’s furniture store.
