A SERVICE to remember children lost in infancy or through miscarriage or stillbirth takes place at Chesterfield Royal Hospital tomorrow.
The annual event is organised to help support the parents and families of those who have lost babies and children through miscarriage, stillbirth, illness or accidents. It always falls on the first Sunday after the Easter weekend.
The event will include readings, songs and a recital of the names of all the children who have died. Families will also be able to light a candle, release a balloon and sign a special book in memory of their loved one.
Lyn Guerriero, a birth centre co-ordinator who offers a bereavement service to parents, said: “It can be an emotional occasion but to have so many people there who have shared the same experience makes people realise that they aren’t alone.” The service starts at 3pm in an extended marquee in car park five.
