A HEALTH advice service for patients in Rotherham is set to shut as part of upcoming NHS reforms.
The Rotherham Patient Advice and Liaison Service - PALS - will close on March 29, before being replaced by a new organisation called Healthwatch Rotherham.
The organisation provided information on access to dental services, health organisations and support groups, as well as an appointment service for people needing face-to-face support.
Healthwatch will also provide help, support and information about local health facilities, including support for people with complaints.
Similar bodies are being set up across the country, following reforms set out in last year’s Health and Social Care Act.
Healthwatch is intended to be a ‘consumer champion’ for health and social care.
