PROUD Ethan Giles-Bowman shows off his brand new ear - created for him using cartilage taken from his ribcage.
The nine-year-old from Deepcar in Sheffield is one of the first children in Britain to undergo the intricate surgery needed to build his new right ear. The schoolboy is one of only 75 youngsters in the country with a rare condition which meant he was born without it.
Today his thrilled mum Kathryn said Ethan was delighted with the results of his delicate six-hour operation.
“It’s great for me and his dad to look at him and see him so happy and feeling so confident,” she told The Star.
