The team at a Sheffield salon are sharpening their scissors in preparation for a day of haircutting in support of a young boy who lost his legs to meningitis.
The Cut and Run for Cieran day will be held at the Lynda V Price Salon and Spa on Ecclesall Road on Sunday, September 15, from noon to 5pm.
All the proceeds will go to eight-year-old Cheshire schoolboy Cieran Craig Kelso, who lost his legs at the age of two when he contracted meningococcal septicemia.
Senior stylist Mark O’Malley came up with the idea after hearing from a client about Cieran’s plight, and he and fellow stylists Victoria Stadniczuk, Nicola Walton and Rosie Smith have their scissors ready for action.
All the money they raise will go directly to the fund to buy Cieran new prosthetic legs.
“We want as many people as possible to come and have their hair cut – all we ask is a minimum donation of £10 – but obviously any more than that is welcome!” said owner Lynda.
There will be an hourly raffle with £1,000 of prizes, and drinks and homemade cakes for sale too.
