Dozens of people attended an open day at Barnsley Hospital to raise awareness of the care and treatment available to patients living with a stoma.
The event was organised by the hospital’s stoma care team and supported by 15 services and groups.
People who attended saw the latest products available to stoma patients, as well as taking advantage of the therapies offered from the trust’s cancer services team.
A stoma is a surgically created opening on the abdomen.
Jane Parker, colorectal nurse, said: “Coming to terms with having a stoma and looking after it properly can be a difficult and life changing task but there are an increasing number of products and services now available for stoma patients to help make life easier.”
