STEEL boss Tony Pedder has been appointed new chairman of the organisation which runs Sheffield’s five adult hospitals.
Mr Pedder, pictured, chairman of Forgemasters International and former chief executive of Corus, will take over on January 1 as chairman of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - which runs the Northern General, Royal Hallamshire, Weston Park, Jessop Wing and Charles Clifford hospitals.
He succeeds David Stone CBE, who retires in December after more than 10 years as chairman.
Mr Pedder has a wealth of experience in the NHS - he was founding chairman of Sheffield Primary Care Trust and currently chairs the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw cluster of PCTs.
He said: “I am delighted to have been appointed and I look forward to working with all my future colleagues to ensure Sheffield Teaching Hospitals continues to provide the highest quality of care and plays a leading role.”
