Plucky scientists were giving a real good soaking – but for a very worthy cause.

A team of researchers from Sheffield Institute of Translational Neuroscience got well and truly wet during the event, organised by South Yorkshire branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

And the event, in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield, raised more than £600.

Members of the public paid £1 each to throw buckets of water over the hardy researchers.

There were also fun science activities for children, a bake sale and plenty of opportunity to find out more about motor neurone disease.

It was the second year the event has been held in the park.
