A South Yorkshire mum is to brave the clippers in a sponsored head shave to support the families of children with cancer.
Steph Hickey – who lost her mum, Christine, to ovarian cancer three years ago – is having her shoulder-length hair shorn to raise money for charity CLIC Sargent.
The cut hair will also be donated to the Little Princess Trust charity, which makes wigs for poorly youngsters.
Steph, from Hoyland in Barnsley, said: “Having three children myself, I could not imagine what these families are going through.
“My mum loved children, so this was another reason I chose this charity.
“I don’t mind losing my hair for such a good cause.
“My hair will grow back - when you lose someone to cancer all you’re left with are memories, photos and personal items to cherish.”
The head shave will happen on Tuesday, July 15, at the Elizabeth Eden salon on Hoyland Road.
Fun activities on the day will include men’s chest or leg waxing in return for donations.
