A South Yorkshire MP has welcomed a Government decision to give all babies a vaccine for Meningitis B.

Sarah Champion, the MP for Rotherham, was among 135 MPs to support the campaign led by Meningitis Now, to make the vaccine free on the NHS.

She said: “There is still some way to go as the Government now needs to reach an agreement with the vaccine company. I look forward to the day that the first child receives the meningitis B jab free on the NHS.”

Meningitis B accounts for half of all cases of bacterial meningitis in the UK.
