Adoption enquiries in South Yorkshire have more than doubled since a new ‘Being Family’ campaign was launched earlier this year.
The county has seen a 147 per cent rise in the number of people asking how they can adopt.
Being Family is designed to show adoption is easier and more accessible than people might think.
The initiative is led by The Yorkshire and Humber Adoption Consortium and brings together 15 local authorities and two adoption agencies.
Nic Haughton, manager of Yorkshire and Humber Adoption Consortium, said: “This year-on-year increase is fantastic news, we are delighted with the campaign’s success to date, and these new figures demonstrate it is continuing to go from strength to strength.”
