SUPER slimmers at two Sheffield groups have shed 155 stone between them - the equivalent weight of a full football team - in just three months.
Dedicated dieters in Stannington and Wadsley Bridge are celebrating their shrinking success and say it is all down to their support for each other.
One of the biggest losers is mum-of-two Kate Nettleship.
She has lost five stone in 16 months, dropping from a size 22 to a size 10 and scooped the Stannington group’s Greatest Loser award.
She is now in the running for a national £3,000 cash prize.
Kate, of Stannington, praised the support of the groups for keeping everyone on track.
“I would love to win the award but, even if I don’t, I feel so good and that feeling is priceless.”
Petite Debra Breese, of Wadsley, has also transformed her life by losing four stone.
She used to weigh over 12 stone 9lbs while taking a dress size 16, and is now 8 stone 8lbs taking a size eight.
Mental health nurse Debra, who won the Wadsley Bridge group’s award, said: “Size 16 was getting tight and with me only being 4ft 11ins I knew petite clothing ranges often stopped at that size.
“I thought no way am I having to shop at a specialist place! My confidence has been completely transformed, I just feel great.
“We all support each other at the group. I’ve carried on going because I know the support is there.”
Consultant Jo Groves, who runs both groups with around 150 members, said: ”Members find a ready-made support network of other people going through the same ups and downs, sharing challenges and celebrating successes.
“Kate and Debra are a huge inspiration and I hope their success will inspire other people in Sheffield who’d like to lose weight to take action too.”
The groups meet at Wadsley Bridge WMC, Halifax Road, from 5pm on Mondays and 7pm Wednesdays at Lomas Hall, Stannington, at 5pm and 7pm.
