A Sheffield health campaigner and a hospital consultant have been honoured at a Patients’ Choice awards event.
Dr Rhona Maclean, a consultant haematologist at the city’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital and campaigner Peter Birtles have been hailed by the AntiCoagulation Self-Monitoring Alliance.
The awards event celebrated the work of dedicated health professionals in the NHS as well as individuals who have helped people on long-term warfarin treatment to monitor their own blood clotting level.
Dr MacLean was named individual health professional of the year.
Mr Birtles, a director at Sheffield Forgemasters International, won the category of outstanding achievement.
The pair have been congratulated by Paul Blomfield, Labour MP for Sheffield Central,for their achievements.
