A fitness instructor from Sheffield has stepped up her workouts to scoop two awards at a bodybuilding competition.
Rachel Saxton, aged 36, from Intake, finished second in the muscle model category and third in the fitness model category at the Miami Pro UK Championships.
The fitness instructor, who works for Fitness Unlimited, was among 300 models who were put through their paces – showing off their best individual ‘T’ walks and quarter turns before taking part in a themewear round, with outfits ranging from sportswear to elaborate costumes.
Rachel, who is based at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in the city centre, spent nine months preparing for the national competition.
Previously a marathon runner, she switched from cardio workouts to building her muscle with weights.
Rachel said it had been a long but rewarding process to succeed at the competition, held in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
She said: “It’s been very hard, of course.
“I first started out with this after running half marathons and I felt I could achieve something.
“It still feels unreal that I’ve won the awards.
“It hasn’t quite sunk in yet – it’s been immensely hard work for the last couple of months in particular but hugely rewarding.”
