A firm which operates a chain of 11 residential care homes across Sheffield has been won a major new contact.

Sheffcare was been awarded a contract with Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group to provide end of life care, enabling patients to live in their own homes towards the end of their lives.

Sheffcare’s Home Care Development Manager Annette Johnson said: “Designed specifically for people who are close to the end of life, the service has been created to provide patients with reassurance and support towards the end of their life.

“It will be a responsive, high quality patient focused home care service.”

The service will provide practical care, reassurance and support to patients and their families in their own homes, with scheduled visits seven days a week.

The firm already provides a range of services to people in their own homes, including personal care, washing, bathing, meal preparation and medication.

It also offers a befriending and companion service, and supports carers so they can take a break.

The new service will be provided in conjunction with other NHS mainstream services and voluntary providers.
