Rotherham doctor shows support for new research centre

A Rotherham doctor has welcomed a pioneering new research centre which will bring hope to thousands who, like him, are living with the terrifying uncertainty of a brain tumour.

Dr Vetrivel Velamail, of Wickersley, was diagnosed in 2009 with an inoperable, malignant glioblastoma multiforme brain tumour after visiting SpecSavers Opticians in Rotherham in order to investigate symptoms of double vision.

At the launch of the new research centre in Plymouth, the former GP toured the laboratories where ground-breaking work is taking place and met the scientists dedicated to improving outcomes for patients and, ultimately, finding a cure.
