MORE than half the people who attended a health roadshow in Rotherham raising awareness of diabetes were referred to a GP after being found to be at moderate to high risk of developing the disease.
Diabetes UK organised the Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow in the town centre offering free diabetes risk assessment tests to passers-by.
In total 124 people were tested - 64 of whom were then referred to their doctor for the further tests and advice after being found at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes in the next 10 years.
The event also offered advice on how to make beneficial lifestyle changes by adopting a healthy diet low in fat, salt and sugar and by taking part in regular physical activity.
