Research at Sheffield hospital continues to grow

Sheffield Children’s Hospital is helping to develop a better understanding of children’s health conditions through an expanding portfolio of innovative research projects.

At present there are 139 active research projects running in the hospital and so far in this financial year 715 patients and healthy volunteers have taken part in studies.

The hospital’s active research portfolio includes 17 cancer studies, 19 studies researching genetic conditions and various studies in specialities including diabetes, endocrinology, urology, blood diseases, dermatology, mental health and neurological conditions.

Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity is a significant supporter of the hospital’s research, providing £250,000 a year to support studies on the diagnosis, prevention and cure of childhood illnesses.
