A PUBLIC meeting is to be held to try to try to explain to patients about the proposed changes to the NHS.
The Moss Valley Patient Participation Group, based at Moss Valley Medical Practice on Gosber Road, Eckington, has organised the event next Wednesday.
The event will include a panel of experts to present and explain the Government’s proposals.
There will also be a question and answer session to allow people to find out more about issues which affect them.
The Government has completed a ‘listening exercise’ over the proposals, which centre on scrapping primary care trusts.
They will be replaced by clinical commissioning groups who will handle the budgets, while the public health responsibilities will be handed to local authorities.
Among guests at the free event, which runs from 7pm until 9pm and takes place at the GP practice, will be Dronfield GP Dr Richard Bull who will provide a summary and commentary on the Government White Paper.
Vincent Shaw, founder member of the Patient Participation Group, said: “The changes, likely to occur in the way patients are treated, are not at all clearly understood by the general public and many varied questions are being asked.
“The Moss Valley Medical Practice is very much aware of the anxiety bring caused and the Patient Participation Group has decided to organise one of its special information evenings.
“Remember, it is our NHS and it is important we should find out what is going on. So come along and make your voice heard.”
