A HEALTH academic and medical consultant is to give a lecture in Sheffield on the future of care for people with chronic diseases like diabetes and osteoporosis.
Professor Devaka Fernando, consultant endocrinologist at King’s Mill Hospital at Sutton-in -Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, holds an Honorary Professorship at Sheffield Hallam University’s Centre for Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education.
His lecture, ‘Changing Health Services in the UK for People with Chronic Diseases’ will take place at their Collegiate Campus on Thursday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
Prof Fernando said: “There will be some massive changes to the way people with chronic diseases are looked after in the future with much more emphasis on self management.
“The lecture will be aimed at a non-professional audience and be of interest to those with experience in chronic diseases and young people seeking a career in health care.”
