A PRIZE-winning personal trainer has picked up another award for his services to the community.
Dave Birds, who works for Sheffield International Venues, was voted the nation’s Personal Trainer of the Year last year.
And now he has now received a Heart of the Community award from Sheffield Council’s North East Community Assembly.
Dave was given the award in recognition of the help he has offered to more than 1,000 people with long-term medical conditions.
The personal trainer has helped them with their recovery through the GP referral programme.
Dave said: “The part of my job I love the most is helping people get back to health and so to be given an award for doing that was a great feeling.”
He also works closely with the British Heart Foundation and is a supporter of its Mending Broken Hearts appeal, which is raising money to fund research into heart disease.
Hard-working Dave is now helping to organise a Sheffield Zumbathon to raise cash for the cause.
“You can get involved, have fun, look after your own heart, and raise money to help others,” he said.
“The appeal is an amazing opportunity to raise money to fund research that could literally lead to broken hearts being fixed.
“Hopefully lots of people will want to get involved and have a fun day out.”
The event takes place on Saturday, July 10, at Don Valley Stadium in Attercliffe, Sheffield.
