A family of four has received £15,500 in compensation after falling ill with severe gastric illnesses including salmonella at an Egyptian hotel which has been the subject of repeated complaints about lack of hygiene for the past three years.

Susan Fellows, aged 44, husband Lee and their two children, from Brimington, Chesterfield, all became ill at the four-star Tropicana Grand Azure Hotel in Sharm El Sheik in May 2012.

The family had booked their all-inclusive trip through travel operator First Choice.

Jatinder Paul, from law firm Irwin Mitchell which secured the Fellows family settlement, said: “Unfortunately, this is not the first time we have represented holidaymakers staying at this hotel.”
