Cancer patients have given a resounding thumbs up to their care and treatment at a South Yorkshire hospital in a national survey.
Barnsley Hospital ranked among the top 10 highest scoring trusts - out of 160 which were surveyed on 70 questions - in the 2012 National Cancer Patient Experience Survey.
The study asked patients their opinions on their journey from diagnosis to treatment. Some 198 respondents in Barnsley replied, rating the trust on how sensitively they had been dealt with, how much dignity and respect they had been shown, the quality of their treatment and post-discharge support.
Barnsley Hospital outperformed many other trusts and was placed in the highest-scoring 20 per cent of trusts for more than half of the questions asked.
Jill Pell, patient experience manager at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: “We are really pleased that cancer patients in Barnsley are happy with the care and treatment we are delivering, rating us among the best.”
