A retired pharmacist and doctor were the guests of honour at the official re-launch of a pharmacy in Sheffield.

Lloyds Pharmacy on Handsworth Road, Handsworth, was opened by David Reardon, who was the manager and pharmacist at the pharmacy for 35 years before taking retirement nine years ago.

He was joined by Dr Abdul Shaikh, a retired senior partner and GP from the nearby Handsworth Medical Centre.

The pharmacy, now run by Pete Johal, offers free, enhanced services for a range of conditions, including skin health and pain management.

Mr Johal said: “We know many who suffer from long-term health conditions don’t always want to go to their doctor every time they have a question.

“Our dedicated and experienced team is supporting local residents’ healthcare needs by providing services that complement GPs and other healthcare professionals by offering convenient, one-to-one support in pleasant, modern surroundings.”

He added: “What we want to do is help people discuss their health problems, and offer support on how we can help them and how they can help themselves.”
