VISITORS turned out to see the latest centre for patients recovering from mental illness in Doncaster.
The Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust opened up the site, at its new Coral Lodge facility, for the public to take a look at before it opens up to patients next month.
It has created 30 jobs in the borough.
Coral Lodge will look after 16 men from the Doncaster area who are recovering from a major mental illness, and is based at the St Catherine’s Hospital site in Balby.
They would previously have had to be cared for outside Doncaster.
A ‘hub’ area offers a fitness centre, café and two kitchens where patients will be supported in self catering. Patients will arrive at the unit throughout December and it is expected all beds will be taken by early January.
