PATIENTS attended an NHS treatment centre to find out more about treatments available to people suffering osteoarthritis.

More than 340 visitors from across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Lincolnshire attended the event at Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre, run by Care UK, to find out more about procedures such as hip and knee replacements, shoulder surgery and minor and major foot and hand operations.

Many took in a theatre tour where surgical and nursing staff were on hand to explain what patients could expect before, during and after surgery.

Graeme Kendall, service manager, said: “Giving prospective patients the opportunity to come in to the operating theatre beforehand and ask questions can offer a great deal of comfort.”
