New watchdog for healthcare

A PANEL of eight Derbyshire residents will be part of a new watchdog to oversee health services.

The team has signed up to be part of Healthwatch Derbyshire, which aims to improve how local people can influence, challenge and get involved in the planning of services such as hospitals, care homes and GP surgeries. Their role is to champion the interests of the public.

Derbyshire County Council will oversee the work of the panel and plans to recruit another four members in March.
