A SOUTH Yorkshire hospital trust has announced the re-appointment of its chairman to guide it through a period of national change to the health service.

Stephen Wragg will continue in the position to ensure “forward planning and continuity” in the “potentially challenging” times ahead.

Since his initial appointment in January 2009 the hospital says it has successfully eliminated cases of MRSA infection and has been placed in the top three in the country for care and treatment at hospital for both stroke and cancer patients.

Mr Wragg said he was “honoured” to have been reappointed, adding: “My top priority is to ensure the hospital continues to provide high quality and safe services for Barnsley people and that healthcare is designed around their needs.”
