A new service has been launched to prevent the spread of infections among North Derbyshire patients.

Patients with infections including C Difficile and MRSA will receive support from specialist nurses in their own homes to help them recover in a bid to reduce the need for them to be readmitted to hospital, where the infections could spread.

Jayne Stringfellow, Chief Nurse at NHS North Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Groups, supports the new project.

“Health care associated infections pose a serious risk for patients, health staff and visitors so we are delighted to be launching this new service,” she said.

“Now there is more support available in GP practices and care homes to protect and prevent patients from infections.”
