A Sheffield clergyman has joined a leading mental health service’s spiritual and pastoral care team in Liverpool.

Rev Julian Raffay is now Mersey Care NHS Trust’s new chaplain and was inducted at a licensing service officiated by the Bishop of Warrington, the Right Rev Richard Blackburn.

Julian takes up the post of specialist chaplain for research, education and development.

He was recruited from Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust where he worked as chaplain team leader and before that he was a vicar in two parishes in Sheffield.

Julian established a team in collaboration with the Diocese of Sheffield that encouraged churches to come to a deeper understanding of mental health issues.
