A new ID card scheme for young carers in Doncaster has been officially launched by one of the borough’s MPs.
The cards will identify people as young carers and let medical professionals know the person they care for has given consent for them to discuss issues, including medication.
MP Rosie Winterton joined members of Doncaster’s young carers’ council at the Doncaster Dome for the launch event.
She encouraged more young carers to apply through their school or college and added: “An ID card is an easy way of giving adults, in particular teachers and medical personnel, information about a young person’s responsibilities.”
