New drug project opens

A PIONEERING project for people recovering from drug and alcohol problems has been set up in South Yorkshire

The Recovery Enterprise Project has been developed by Barnsley Alcohol and Drug Advisory Service alongside members of the Barnsley Recovery Forum and aims to provide opportunities for people in recovery to help themselves and their communities.

Phase one of the project will see participants obtain practical skills such as woodworking and general property renovation, before putting them to work crafting new items and restore old appliances, ready for re-sale.

Lynn Rogers, chief executive of Barnsley Alcohol and Drug Advisory Service, said: “Recovery Enterprises will let people fill time, gain new skills and friends, and gain solid job experience to add to their CV.”
