IT should still be wet and wild - just not so wet that it has to be postponed a second time!
The annual St Luke’s Hospice It’s a Knockout challenge and Family Fun Day should have been held on July 8, but was called off after the HSBC Sports Centre at Dore became waterlogged.
Now the event has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 9, with 14 teams already signed up and room for more to join in the crazy fun of the event that recaptures the mayhem of the hit 1970s TV show.
The Star - which is running a £100,000 appeal to help rebuild the hospice’s inpatient unit - is taking part, with a 10-strong team signed up.
As well as the It’s a Knockout challenge itself there will be a barbecue, food stalls and homemade cakes, a licensed bar, market stalls and crafts and live entertainment.
Fundraising co-ordinator Claire Hunter said: “This is always a fantastic event and we were so disappointed the weather stopped play. But we already have 14 teams signed up to take part again and there’s room for more to join in the fun.
“The best news of all is that the Family Fun Day is completely free of charge so it really will be a fabulous day out.”
It’s a Knockout was just one of dozens of fundraising and community events cancelled by torrential downpours this month. To enter a team, call 0114 235 7590.
