The date for Sheffield’s Starlight Walk is getting closer – and visitors are being reminded that there’s much more in store besides a simple stroll in the park.
The annual five-kilometre walk from Endcliffe Park to Forge Dam and back takes place on Saturday, July 13, collecting funds for St Luke’s Hospice in Whirlow.
Walkers will stride out as dusk falls and the stars begin to appear in the night sky at 9pm, but the fun actually starts from 6.30pm with a packed entertainment line-up.
Music will be provided by local band The Grand Plan, along with drinks in the Thornbridge Brewery Beer Tent, a Moss Valley Meats hog roast, ice cream and a selection of international treats from the Sheffield Street Food team.
Endcliffe Park Café will also be staying open for refreshments.
Meanwhile, for youngsters, face painters will be on hand and, before the walk starts, there will be a mass warm-up with Pure Gym fitness experts.
The hospice wants more than 1,000 walkers to generate at least £100 each in sponsorship, raising at least £100,000.
Registration costs £15 for adults and £10 for children aged five to 15. For groups of six or more, the cost of registering falls to £10.
