A PUBLIC meeting to fight plans to close a children’s heart surgery unit is to be held in Sheffield this month.
The meeting has been set up by the Save Our Surgery campaign, launched by the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, the charity which supports the unit at Leeds General Infirmary currently threatened with closure.
Many patients from South Yorkshire are treated there.
A four-month consultation has been launched by the Department of Health on plans to cut the number of children’s heart surgery centres in England.
The Sheffield meeting takes place on Tuesday March 15 at Baldwins Omega, Brincliffe Hill, from 5pm to 7pm.
