Are dogs allowed at the St Luke’s Hospice Starlight Walk? There’s be one character who’ll be barking mad if they’re not!

Hospice mascot Digs the Dog is one of the attractions at the annual sponsored 5k walk from Endcliffe Park to Forge Dam and back.

He’ll be at the front of the crowd as an estimated 1,000 people set off on the fundraising challenge as twilight falls on Saturday, July 13.

And, where Digs goes, there’s no reason family pets shouldn’t go too – provided they’re well behaved.

Guide and hearing dogs are very welcome, and all other dogs are permitted on the strict condition they are kept on leads and controlled responsibly.

Last year more than 1,000 people took part in the Starlight Walk.

“This year we’d love every walker to raise at least £100 for St Luke’s,” said Una Moran, director of fundraising. “Together we could raise £100,000 in just one evening.”

Registration costs £15 for adults and £10 for children aged five to 15. For groups of six people or more, the cost of registering is £10.

The fee simply covers the cost of staging the event.
