A man has been jailed for eight years after police caught him in the act of conducting a drugs deal.
Andrew Bell, aged 40, of Brameld Road in Rawmarsh, Rotherham, was seen by plain clothes police officers on Dale Road in Rotherham on February 8 this year.
He was about to conduct a drugs deal and, when searched, was in possession of seven small packs of heroin.
Four days earlier a drugs warrant executed at his home address had uncovered 18 small packs of heroin. The total value of the drugs was £250.
Bell was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court to eight years in jail.
PC Brett Thompson from Rawmarsh Safer Neighbourhood Team, who arrested and charged Bell, said: “I hope this sends a message out to anyone who thinks that dealing drugs in the streets is acceptable.”
