Lotto boost for carers

A COMMUNITY project supporting young carers in Sheffield has been awarded a six figure cash boost from the National Lottery.

Voyce, which supports the educational, social, physical and emotional development of young carers, has received £996,298.

The project will work with schools to identify and support young carers earlier and refer them to services where they can discuss the issues they face and receive assistance to better manage their day-to-day lives.

They will also be offered training and opportunities to boost their confidence and skills and counselling and therapy sessions to help them cope in difficult situations.
