Work begins on new £1,2m Barnsley surgery for 5,000 patients

Work has started on a new £1.2 million medical centre that will serve thousands of patients in South Yorkshire.

The Dodworth Medical Centre is being built on Woodland Drive, Barnsley, and is expected to be completed in autumn, catering for 5,100 patients.

Three GPs will be based at the surgery, which is set to provide improved facilities such as disabled access, a community cafe and parking.

Services on offer will include ante-natal, baby, asthma and stop smoking clinics.
