Attractions and activities provided for disabled people in the Peak District are getting wider exposure through a new video.

The Accessible Derbyshire organisation took disabled TV presenter and campaigner Sophie Morgan on a whistlestop tour of the national park, taking in many of the area’s most popular spots.

Sophie - a wheelchair user since being paralysed from the chest down in a car crash 11 years ago - sampled sweet treats at Ye Old Bakewell Pudding Shop, sipped Jaipur beer at the Thornbridge Brewery and took a ride at the Crich Tramway Village.

She also explored the facilities at Carsington Water, where a ‘wheelyboat’ is offered which takes wheelchair users fishing.

Sophie then stayed in an accessible bedroom at the Peak Edge hotel, rode on an adapted bike at Parsley Hay and learned about wheelchair abseiling at Miller’s Dale.

The tour finished in Castleton.

The film will be available to view on the Visit Britain website.

A similar video shot in Birmingham attracted more than 380,000 hits on YouTube.
