Sporting stars joined with musicians to help sell T-shirts and raise hundreds of pounds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Sheffield boxers Ross Burkinshaw, Ryan Rhodes and Joe Rodgers, Speedway’s Simon Stead, retired Sheffield Wednesday striker David Hirst and Owls winger Jermaine Johnson all supported the fundraising drive, along with Sheffield band Sour Cherry.
The sports and music stars, along with Sheffield Wednesday fans’ forum Owlstalk and local businesses, sold T-shirts designed by promotion company Pow UK, on Matilda Street, in aid of the hospital.
Former English super-flyweight champion Ross, whose wife Nicola sold T-shirts to colleagues, said: “The sale was a great success for a worthwhile cause.”
Matt Balme, of Pow UK, said: “We are really delighted with the team effort on this project. Musicians, sports stars and websites joined forces to help raise money for this great cause.
“The most pleasing thing was it was a full joint effort to raise awareness of the hospital while also pulling in funds that we can hand over to the hospital.”
Sale of the T-shirts will be ongoing through the speedway and football season.
