A month of activities raising awareness of breast cancer is fast approaching - and charity volunteers found a novel way to show their support in Sheffield.
Supporters of Breast Cancer Care turned Hillsborough Stadium pink by arranging themselves into a giant ribbon on the pitch.
Sheffield Wednesday is supporting the charity’s Pink Fridays campaign throughout this season.
The campaign, also backed by The Star, encourages people to hold an event at the end of the week, from wearing pink at work or school to enjoying pink food and drinks.
Sarah Herrett, Breast Cancer Care’s area fundraiser for the north, said: “To kick off our Pink Fridays campaign and show our support for the 1,600 people diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the South Yorkshire area, we were thrilled to create this giant pink ribbon.
“We want to thank everyone who got involved in the launch and supported us. We have lots of exciting activities planned.”
Breast Cancer Awareness Month runs throughout October. Money raised from the appeal will go towards supporting women and men affected by the disease.
