Sheffield store joins campaign to highlight diabetes

A DRIVE has been launched to help diagnose people in Sheffield who may not know they have Type 2 diabetes.

Charity Diabetes UK has joined forces with Tesco to raise awareness of the condition among shoppers - and also collect donations for research.

People can now check if they are at risk while visiting the pharmacy in Tesco off Abbeydale Road.

Linda Wood, Diabetes UK’s regional manager, said: “We are extremely grateful Tesco customers and colleagues in Sheffield will be raising thousands of pounds for people affected by, or at risk of, diabetes. The work they will be doing will make a real difference.”

Based on national figures, Diabetes UK believes around 6,000 people in Sheffield may be unaware they have the condition.
