A free safety event open to over-60s from Doncaster is being run at the Lifewise Centre in Hellaby, Rotherham, next month.

South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and a number of charities, including Age UK and the Red Cross, are involved in the event on Wednesday, April 3, between 9.45am and 2.30pm.

Elderly residents from across South Yorkshire will be able to visit the centre and watch, or participate in, a number of voluntary activities.

The Lifewise Centre which is a purpose built facility with a life size film set representing a small town featuring houses, shops, an interchange and full size bus, a park, a police station with cell and much more.

Project Officer Andy Foster said: “The purpose of the Get Lifewise initiative is to make people living in Doncaster feel safer and enable them to deal with any difficult situations they might encounter.
