Festive fundraising is a fine art – just ask Pete McKee.

One of Sheffield’s favourite painters has raised thousands of pounds for charity through the sale of specially-designed Christmas cards.

The greetings flew off the shelves during the countdown to December 25 and have resulted in a £7,000 boost for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.

Pete, who is a patron of the charity, wanted cash from this year’s cards to go to the Artfelt project, which offers creative workshops to patients.

The art created at each is hung on the walls of wards and corridors to brighten up the hospital.

Pete said: “It is always great working with Artfelt at the Children’s Hospital Charity, especially on this year’s Christmas cards. I’m chuffed to bits with the success of them.”

David Vernon-Edwards, managing director of the charity, said: “We are so privileged to have had Pete design Christmas cards for the charity.

“The £7,000 raised will do lots to give children a brighter and friendlier environment.

“Our surroundings have a powerful effect on how we feel.”
