Park walk to help diabetes patients

Walkers will be striding around a Sheffield park to support people with diabetes and raise awareness of the condition.

The event is happening in Millhouses Park on September 14, organised by the Sheffield group of charity Diabetes UK.

Two circuits will be on offer – a mile-long route and another covering around half a mile.

Walkers can complete as many or as few circuits as they would like.

Anita Vere, who is helping to organise the event, said: “We envisage that some seasoned walkers would be sponsored for a number of laps, but a half-mile lap would be a great achievement for those who may be beginning a healthy lifestyle programme.

“This is not a race – walkers can take as long as they wish and there are plenty of seats along the way if rest is needed.”

There will be a mass start at midday, but people can set off at any time up to 3pm.
