An OPEN day in Sheffield will raise awareness of the problems caused by tinnitus.
The event at Sheffield’s Winter Garden will be hosted by the neurology department at the city’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
Hospital staff have organised the day in collaboration with the Sheffield-based British Tinnitus Association, which provides support for people with the condition.
The event, on Tuesday, February 5, coincides with the BTA’s annual Tinnitus Awareness Week which runs from February 4 to 10.
Members of the hospital’s specialist tinnitus team will be on hand at the open day to provide information and advice about coping with the condition.
Admission to the event, which runs between 9.30am and 4pm, is free.
Hearing therapist Clare Marris, from the neurology department, said: “An estimated 50,000 people in Sheffield may experience tinnitus, and holding the event at the Winter Garden will enable us to show what support is available locally.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to find out more.
“We hope lots of people will come along and find out what we are up to.”
